L. Daniel Akers, Jr., CPA,CFP®, Managing Principal
L. Daniel Akers, Jr. is a financial planning and investment management professional with over 20 years of industry experience. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University. Dan is also a Certified Public Accountant.
He spent eight years at the trust division of Wachovia Bank of North Carolina; the last two as the manager of the firm’s trust marketing effort for the Winston-Salem market.
In 1994, he was recruited by Merrill Lynch to establish their trust and investment management business in North Carolina. As a result of his successful efforts Merrill Lynch Trust Company of North Carolina was formed in 1996 and grew to over $300,000,000 in assets under management by 1998.
In 1997, he joined the Hendersonville, North Carolina office of Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant where he led a team that managed over $200,000,000 in client assets. Dan serves on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Community Foundation of Henderson County and is Chairman of the Blue Ridge Community Health Services Foundation, Inc.

Kyle R. Boyd, Managing Principal
Kyle R. Boyd is an investment professional with over 20 years experience. Previously, Kyle was a principal with the investment counsel firm Boys, Arnold and Company where he served as a senior investment counselor and on the firm’s Investment Committee, handling many of that firm’s largest and most complicated portfolios. He also served as President of Boys, Arnold Trust Company and was responsible for its planning, formation and management.
Kyle served as Senior Vice President and Chief Trust Officer for Merrill Lynch Trust Company where he served on the Investment Committee and supervised all trust company administration and management in its Greensboro, Chicago, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Columbus, Ohio and Washington D.C. offices, overseeing 1.7 billion dollars in trust assets. Prior to joining Merrill, he served as a Vice-President and Regional Manager for Wachovia Bank of North Carolina’s Trust division in the Piedmont Triad Region.
Kyle is an attorney and is a member of the Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina Bar Associations. Kyle’s responsibilities within the firm include managing high- net worth and institutional relationships and supervising the investment and fiduciary activities of the firm. He is a graduate of The University of Alabama and holds a law degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, and the ABA’s National Trust School. Kyle serves on the Board of Directors of National Independent Trust Company, the professional advisory committee of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina and the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville.

Stacey Collins, Administrator
Stacey joined the firm in 2008. A Charlotte native, she is a business graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She has had a variety of work experience including owning her own dog day care business and being a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer. She brings her knowledge of office management to the firm and handles client administration for 3 of Altavista’s advisors.

Jacqui S. Friedrich, CFP® Financial Advisor and Director of Financial Planning
Jacqui is a financial planning and investment management professional with over 20 years of industry experience. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina - Asheville with a degree in Accounting. She is also a Certified Financial Planner.
She spent ten years working with Colton Groome & Company in the financial and benefit consulting business. She was the Firm Administrator and also supported the financial planning process.
In 1997, Jacqui joined Boys, Arnold & Company. Beginning in an administrative role, Jacqui became an investment counselor and the Director of Financial Planning for Boys, Arnold. While providing investment counselor services to her clients and leading the financial planning efforts for the firm, she also participated on the Investment Committee and Compliance Committee for the firm.
In April 2007, Jacqui joined Starks Financial Group as a Financial Advisor where she continued to manage client relationships for financial planning and investment counseling.
Jacqui is the co-founder of the Financial Planning Association of Western North Carolina. She also serves at the National level of FPA as a Chapter Leadership Resource Council member liaison for five states in the southeast. She is on the board of OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling and is a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Community Foundation of WNC.

Gregory N. Jones, Managing Principal
Greg Jones formed Jones Wealth Management Group (now Altavista Wealth Management, Inc.) in 2002 after 25 years in the investment and trust business. Greg began his career in the consulting field with Connecticut Mutual before moving to First Union National Bank’s Capital Management Group. In the 1980’s he was recruited to Compass Bank to serve the North Carolina Market.
While at Compass, Greg developed an investment strategy using multiple independent boutique money managers, a process unique at the time and unknown in banking. As a result of his efforts Greg was asked to manage Compass Bank’s marketing efforts. After ten years at Compass, Greg opened an office for Merrill Lynch. This led to an offer to join Eastover Capital Management a small money management firm in Charlotte as a Senior Vice President. Looking for broader investment offerings and trust services for his clients, Greg joined Carolinas Investment Consulting LLC. When this firm decided to focus on the Broker/Dealer business, Greg decided to form his own firm to offer integrated trust and investment management services to his clients.
Greg served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S Army. He graduated Summa cum Laude in Accounting and Economics, holds a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Management and graduated from the Southeastern Trust School. Greg’s focus within the firm is managing high-net worth individuals and family relationships, providing investment consulting services to corporations, non-profit organizations and as manager of the firm’s marketing efforts is responsible for the review and qualification of all new accounts that are accepted by the firm.

Christine B. Nelson, Director of Administration and Operations
Christine joined Altavista with over seven years experience in administration and operations at Boys, Arnold and Company, an Asheville N.C. based registered investment advisor. Christine is a 1989 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she earned a degree in economics. Christine manages the compliance, operational and administrative functions of the firm.

Barbara S. Orr, Director of Client Service
Barbara joined Altavista with over twenty years experience in the financial services industry. After attending DeKalb College in Atlanta where she studied business administration, she and her family moved to North Carolina. She joined Merrill Lynch in the Hendersonville office at its inception in 1983 and was promoted to Senior Client Associate and also served as the Operations Supervisor for the branch. Barbara manages all aspects of client services for the firm.

W. Edmond Zorigian, President, Altavista Trust
W. Edmond (Ned) Zorigian is a Trust and Investment Management professional with over 36 years of experience. Throughout his career with Bank of Boston, Wachovia and First Union he has served in senior management roles and has been responsible for managing many of those institutions’ most important client relationships.
After attending Bentley College in Massachusetts, Ned started his Trust career with the First National Bank of Boston in 1970. Over 15 years he rose to the position of Senior Vice President in the Personal Trust Group. Moving to Wachovia in Charlotte, NC, Ned served as the Southern Region Personal Trust Manager and later as Manager of the Personal Investment Management Group of the Wachovia Trust Division. After a brief move to First Union National Bank as a Senior Capital Management Advisor, Ned returned to Wachovia after First Union’s purchase of Wachovia. Ned retired from Wachovia on November 30, 2006, after 22 years of service.
In addition to attending Bentley College, Ned’s educational background includes a degree in Trust Administration from the New England School of Banking at Williams College in 1975. Ned also completed the National Graduate Trust School curriculum at Northwestern University in 1978.
During his career in New England, Ned served as President and member of the Estate and Business Planning Council of Worcester County and the Montachusett Estate Planning Council. He is currently an active member of the Charlotte Estate Planning Council. Ned also served as a Director on the Goodwill Industries Board in Charlotte from 1988 to 1996. He is Past Chairman and Director of the Estate Planners Day at Queens College.
Ned joined Altavista in January, 2007. He serves as a Senior Relationship Manager and President of Altavista Trust, a Division of National Independent Trust Company.
